About us

After a three year stint at Wolff Olins working in corporate branding and then five years as head of design at Mothercare, in 1986 Sebastian founded his own independent design studio working across a variety of sectors including homewares, healthcare, transport, technology accessories, and childcare equipment. Then following nine years of running the design side for the Conran Group, Sebastian Conran Associates was re-established in 2009, to create functional and beautiful products for premium international businesses.

Based in an elegant studio-workshop in West Kensington, we are a tightly focused team of experienced designers and project managers supported by non-executive directors Keith Whitten and Michael Wolff.

Our design approach is simple:
Understanding Through familiarisation and scoping we take the time to thoroughly research and rigorously explore the issues facing the customers, markets and manufactures.

Experience - Our first hand commercial experience and expertise gives us insight into what sells and why.

Sensitivity - During the conceptual creative phase, we consider what people emotionally want. We are sensitive to the zeitgeist, branding and environmental issues.

Ingenuity - When delivering what people rationally need, clever thinking helps us deliver functional innovation, which is a keen sales driver.

Expertise - Our careful project management and talent for designing things simply to make by using the latest available technologies and techniques, allows the manufacturing process to be straightforward. Thereby designing quality and integrity in and failure out

Inclusive - Our designs aim to be democratic, affordable, appealing and usable to the broadest possible audience.
