Project Title

Live & Work Collection

Our inspiration

This collection draws inspiration from the traditional architecture and woodworking native to the Hida-Takayama region, an area heavily influenced by the cultures of Kyoto and Tokyo in the Edo period (1603-1868). A significant time of peace and prosperity in Japan, it prompted a great surge in artistic, cultural and social development.

Fit for modern living

The collection consists of a workstation and task chair plus a series of dining and living furniture, crafted from either Walnut or Oak. The designs reflect Japanese culture whilst meeting the need to incorporate modern technologies into today’s work and social lifestyles.

Steeped in tradition

Hida Sangyo is a well-established furniture manufacturer founded in 1920. Having inherited the skills and traditions of Hida artisans, they address new product making by using their technological strengths. In recent years, Hida Sangyo has been proactively manufacturing environmentally conscious furniture by using less commonly used wood materials, such as compressed native cedar wood.

The Workstation

This compact workstation has been designed to cater to the demands of the technology-equipped modern home office in an elegant and ordered fashion. The cable management system provides room for international plugs and the optional screen riser allows users to maximize the surface space available. The task chair features a scientifically designed ergonomic molded seat that provides support over long periods of use though its form, construction and the materials used. It offers an aesthetic that is equally at home at the workstation as the dining table.
