Project Title
Anywayup Cup
With 25m units sold, the innovative non-drip ‘Anywayup’ toddler’s cup has produced sales of almost £100 million, and the design has successfully led the market for over ten years. Inventor / client Mandy Haberman commissioned the redesign of the todler’s cup which incorporated Haberman’s patented Anywayup ‘non-drip valve’ and focussed on improving function, fabrication and aesthetics and resulted in a 25% decrease in manufacturing costs, together with a 4000% sales increase.
Manufactured in Wales, the iconic Anywayup cup has scooped many awards including: BPF Horner Innovation Award; two DBA Design Effectiveness Awards; and DTI Millennium Product.

VIA Pushchair
The VIA Pushchair was designed by Sebastian when he was head of Industrial design at Mothercare. The pushchair was one of the first pushchairs to use polymers in this way and as a result increased sales considerably.

Launched as the flagship cookshop range at Sainsbury’s first Home Store, which opened in 2003, Conran developed the 120-item ‘bY’ kitchen range includes tableware, expert chef’s knives, cookware, kitchen electricals and even a barbeque.
The cookware was selected for D&AD Product Design judges and later won an international iF Award. The ‘Balloon Barbeque’ was cited as one of the ten most iconic products of 2004 by Elle Decoration magazine.

Studio Conran collaborated with the brand over 3 years on a variety of ranges which were produced in Ttchibo’s unique, limited-run collections that are updated weekly. With over 70 years in retail and 1000 stores across Europe and beyond, Tchibo sells everything from coffee products to shower curtains.

Aerofoil Furniture Collection
Designed for digital living in the home, the furniture intergrates with electronic equipment, neatly dealing with cables and plugboards in integrated conduits whilst maintaining a soft and domestic aesthetic with natural wood finishes. The range had innovative features such as cable management channels, extending keyboard drawers, televion mounting points and adaptable surfaces such as the Radius Table’s tilt mechanism which allows it to pivot into the perfect positions for writing, typing or sketching.

In collaboration with the ‘Domestic Goddess’ Nigella Lawson, the products team designed an enticing kitchenware range with a duck egg blue and clotted cream colour palette. The products and packaging were conceived to enhance the ranges’ appeal as gifts and was launched in 2004, reciving a number of awards and much critical acclaim, the range continues to be successful, achieving spectacular sales and awards worldwide.

Project Title
Stem Ray
Japan based Yamagiwa invited Sebastian and Studio Conran to develop a rechargeable bedside/desk-light, utilising a slim flexible neck with LED light source, allowing light to be focused in any direction. The battery unit is housed in a die-cast tripod base, whose form was inspired by concrete Japanese sea defences.
The acclaimed result was awarded a Red Dot and can be seen is Oslo’s library where 100 are used to light their reading room.

Flagship of the collection, the Beep task & floor lamp’s simple and elegant form mask an innovative balanced construction of counterweights and hidden cables. By using an angled vertical spar and a swivel base we were able to simplify the assembly to two pivot points without losing the flexibility to get the light to where it is needed.
